Biography

Katherine Marie Heigl was born in Washington D.C, USA on the 24th of November 1978 to parents Nancy and Paul. Like many Americans, the Heigl's moved often: first to New Jersey, then to Washington; Denver, before heading north to settle in Connecticut.
The Heigl family - which included elder siblings Meg, Jason and Holt - moved to a large, old Colonial-style farmhouse in a wealthy neighborhood of New Canaan, Connecticut. It was there that Katherine was to spend the majority of her childhood.

The youngest member of her family, Katherine, or “Katie” as she is known affectionately, enjoyed a classic family life. Holidays were large family events; Christmas was celebrated with particular fervour and flair. Katherine would make gifts for her family ranging from bookmarks to scarves and personalized poetry.

Texas-born, West Virginia-raised Garner got her first acting gig in 1998 with a guest stint on the TV show Felicity, where she met her first husband, Scott Foley. The two got married in 2000 and divorced in 2004. Felicity director J.J. Abrams remembered Garner when he was casting for his grad-student-by-day, CIA-double-agent-by-night drama Alias (2001). Garner landed the part and has been among the Hollywood elite ever since, earning a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for her lead acting nearly every year during the show's six-year run. Film roles came soon thereafter in Pearl Harbor, 13 Going on 30, Daredevil and its sequel (and her first action-hero starring vehicle) Elektra. Garner met future husband Ben Affleck on the set of Pearl Harbor, but their romance didn't spark until the much-publicized breakup of Affleck and former flame Jennifer Lopez. Garner and Affleck wed in 2005 and have a daughter together.
